Tim Seeley is a comic book writer and artist living in Chicago. He is the creator if Hack/Slash, the current writer of Witchblade, and the artist on a mess of things he has trouble keeping track of. He collects He-Man figures, because he is pretty much a large, hairy nine year old. His website is
here.
The Teen Titans were created by Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani.
As someone who hated the new look Titans Flushpoint is offering, these Titans are much more to my tastes. Great costumes and I like Garth's pale look. They all show personality and are properly rebooted to the Haney days.
ReplyDeleteI am further intrigued by the tag line "Whiz Kids vs. Witchcraft". That sounds like a fun new direction. And that Robin logo tag... is there a little rebellion and delinquency going on with the JLA's sidekicks? All good stuff.
Would read? Yes yes and YES. And I haven't said that about a Titans book since... well, since I bought the Haney era Showcase presents collections.

ReplyDeleteMy angle on this was that I wanted to see a Teen Titans comic book actually aimed at teenagers, instead of at old dudes with man-breasts who yearn for the nostalgia of the 90s. So, we have the classic and most recognizable characters in slightly updated costumes based on what teens actually wear. Of course, that changes all the time, so we'd alter the outfits a bit to reflect changing styles. It's not that hard. We have facebook now.
I also thought it was important that the book look fun and bright and sexy. If remember being a teenager right, fun bright and sexy definitely attracted my attention. And, I mean, it's a comic about young people with superpowers. You don't have to work all day,you can eat pizza for every meal and not gain a pound, you can sleep in, and your main motivation is trying to see the opposite sex naked. How can that not be fun? I decided that the era in which the Titans fought supernatural stuff was awesome, so I borrowed the "Whiz kids vs. Witchcraft" line and the cool checker board pattern on the top.

Robin's cape-collar-color change... Absolutely brilliant.
ReplyDelete"Whiz kids vs. Witchcraft"! I'd buy this and read it too, even if it was slightly disguised as something else that wouldn't get a reboot every 5 years. ;)
I wish....!
ReplyDeleteLove this team.
Great stuff Tim. "It's not that hard." Then explain the actual revamped costumes.
ReplyDeleteOh and when I slammed every Titans book since Haney's day, I only considered the in-continuity monthlies. I was/am a huge fan of both Year 1 and Tiny Titans!
This is refreshing considering the Titans redesigns are among the worst of the worst in the DCnU!
ReplyDeleteI am not above admitting that this Wonder Girl is daaaamn hot.
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing. I seriously wish this was the reality of the relaunch, as the new Titans costumes -- and the costumes of the new characters -- look awful (no offense to Brett Booth). It would also be such a welcome change to see something resembling a classic line-up. You would think DC would desire that, what with Young Justice on the air, but why bother trying to easily transition fans?
ReplyDeleteAnyway, this is fantastic. I can't wait to see more entries. Love the project!
I love this. It's great work, thank you.
ReplyDeleteI am also enjoying all these entries so much! This one really knocks it out of the park though :)
ReplyDeleteWhen I found out this wasn't a real thing I was deeply depressed.
ReplyDeleteLooks great!
ReplyDelete"I am not above admitting that this Wonder Girl is daaaamn hot."
ReplyDeleteAin't that the truth? Yowza!
Pretty spectacular! I would love to read this book!
ReplyDelete"I am not above admitting that this Wonder Girl is daaaamn hot."
ReplyDeleteAnd I love that she isn't sporting the massive tits of a 30-year-old Playmate.
If I wasn't already buying things Tim Seely does this image would make me want to.
ReplyDeleteAlthough how dare you mock my man-breasts! They make me look nurturing.
Badass!
ReplyDeleteNothing more to say!
Love this cover - if fact it is better than the real one - http://www.comicbookandmoviereviews.com/2011/10/teen-titans-1.html
